Alert: Possible oil spill on Sea to Sky Highway

Staff report
October 27, 2020 5:54pm

Squamish RCMP is alerting drivers about a possible oil spill on Highway 99.

There seems to be an oil spill from Horseshoe Bay to Britannia Beach causing slippery sections along the Sea to Sky Highway.

In a tweet, Squamish RCMP said the spill appears to be in the north-bound lane.

It is the possible cause of one vehicle into the ditch at Porteau Cove.

“We have reports that the spill was seen all the way to Britannia Beach with sections of the oil washed away throughout the highway going north-bound,” Squamish RCMP said.
