An impaired driver in Valleycliffe had their vehicle impounded and licence suspended after a traffic check by Squamish RCMP.
The driver was issued a roadside prohibition, the vehicle was impounded for 30 days, and licence suspended for 90 days.
On October 27, at 12:45 am, Squamish RCMP observed a vehicle failed to stop at the stop sign at the intersection of Westway Ave and Guildford Drive.
Police officers made a traffic stop suspecting that the driver was impaired by liquor. The driver provided two samples of breath into a screening device but failed.
Rescue on Howe Sound
On October 24, Squamish RCMP received a report of a person stuck in an eight-foot dinghy in Howe Sound.
The person was unable to get to shore after losing the oars.
Squamish RCMP requested assistance from Squamish Marine Search and Rescue to retrieve the individual, which they did successfully. Police seized the dinghy from the individual and had a conversation regarding boating safety.
This happened on a day when Squamish was under a wind advisory and it was unsafe to be out on the water in a dinghy, Squamish RCMP added.
