A driver in Whistler jumped out of a moving car after a Whistler RCMP officer tried to pull over the vehicle.
The man later told the officer he jumped out because he thought he didn’t have insurance.
The officer checked the car and told him he did have the insurance.
The incident happened on Oct 22, just after midnight when a Whistler RCMP officer observed a grey car travelling on Village Gate.
The officer made a U-turn to pull over the vehicle.
By the time the officer turned around, he noted that the driver’s side door was open, even though the vehicle was continuing to travel down the road.
The vehicle drifted into the oncoming lane, and then came to a stop after hitting a street light.
The driver of the vehicle was located nearby, who told the officer he had jumped out of the vehicle while it was moving because he saw police car turn around.
He said he jumped because he thought he had no insurance. The officer then pointed out to the driver that he had insurance.
Whistler RCMP didn’t say if the driver was issued any ticket.
