Squamish RCMP arrests driver who rammed car into wall

Staff report
November 17, 2020 5:20pm

Squamish RCMP officers have arrested the driver who rammed a car into a wall in Britannia Beach.

The driver and the passengers fled the scene after the incident.

However, Squamish RCMP located the driver, who was arrested for failing to remain at the scene of an accident and for an additional breach of conditions from an unrelated file.

None of the car occupants were injured and damage to the car was under $10,000.

Squamish RCMP said it wants to thank those in the area for providing accurate descriptions and directing police to the car occupants.

Prohibited driver arrested

On November 12, police officers pulled over a car in Squamish and discovered the driver was prohibited from driving.

The driver was arrested under the Motor Vehicle Act and released from custody shortly with a notice to attend court.

The car was impounded for seven days.
