The Squamish Chamber of Commerce, Tourism Squamish, and the Downtown Squamish Business Improvement Association have joined forces to support the Squamish business community.
The three partners collectively represent hundreds of local businesses.
They have recently created a local campaign including a Stay Local – Support Local video featuring local businesses.
A Light Up Squamish shop local program will soon be launched to encourage shopping local this holiday season.
Light Up Squamish will include holiday light installations at key commercial zones, special offers at local businesses and a socially distanced ‘scan to win’ contest.
Locals can Scan QR codes at light installations and at participating businesses to enter to win prizes. Locals can also mention ‘Light Up Squamish’ while shopping to receive a special holiday offer with purchase at participating businesses.
“The COVID-19 pandemic brought challenges to our local businesses that we never imagined. We have been impressed and humbled by how our community has come together to support one another. Thank you.” said Louise Walker, Executive Director Squamish Chamber of Commerce.
Launching on December 1, the Downtown Squamish’s 21 Days of Christmas is a shop local program for downtown Squamish.
The promotion encourages shopping local, with measures in place for socially distanced and safe shopping.
Each participating business will have a ballet box and poster displayed in their window to notify people that they are a participant in the 21 Days of Christmas campaign.
“Come downtown, support your local businesses, do some shopping, grab some great food and know that every business has enhanced safety measures in place for a safe and socially distanced shopping experience.” says Kerry Neil, Executive Director of Downtown Squamish Business Improvement Association.
Thanks to a partnership with the Squamish Chamber, LOCO BC and Van City, any Squamish business can also upload Squamish Gift Cards to https://supportlocalbc.com/collections/squamish
There is no transaction fees, and the entire gift card cost goes directly to the local business.
Lesley Weeks, Executive Director, Tourism Squamish said the organization remains committed to supporting local businesses.
