Cougar attacks man in area north of Whistler

A 69-year-old man was attacked by a cougar near his property in the Soo Valley, north of Whistler.

The BC Conservation Officer Service Predator Attack Team is on site and is investigating the attack, which happened at around 3:30 pm today.

The man was mauled by a cougar and suffered major injuries to his face and hand.

He was taken to hospital via ambulance and is reportedly in stable condition.

Whistler RCMP officers were first to arrive at the site and euthanized a cougar on the property.

The COS does not believe there is any risk to the public at this time.
