Two men have been charged by Vancouver police in a fatal attack on a senior last week.
Pascal Bouthilette, 41, was charged with second-degree murder and Sandy Parisian, 47, was charged with manslaughter.
The arrests follows the murder of 78-year-old Usha Singh, who was fatally injured when the two men allegedly entered her home while posing as police officers.
VPD began investigating the crime last Sunday when the 78-year-old was found badly injured inside her home near Queen Elizabeth Park.
One of the suspects, also wanted Canada-wide for unrelated offences, suffered a serious, but non-life-threatening injury during the arrest.
“This was a tragic and senseless crime that cost an innocent woman her life, and struck fear and anxiety in the community,” said Sergeant Steve Addison of the VPD.
“Vancouver is still a safe city, and thankfully incidents like this are rare. We hope these arrests begin to restore a sense of calm and safety.”
