For Whistler resident Vesler Ramos, the nine-year anniversary of moving to BC has taken on a new meaning.
It falls on the same day that he validated his Lotto Max ticket from the December 8, 2020 draw that landed him more than $160,000.
“I had just finished working and wanted to check my ticket on my BCLC Lotto! app,” Ramos recalled.
“When I scanned the ticket, I noticed that I was a winner. I thought at first that my eyesight was poor or that I was tired from working and wasn’t looking at it correctly. I just couldn’t believe it, it was so exciting!”
Ramos is originally from the Philippines and moved to BC in 2011.
He doesn’t play the lottery often but when he does he chooses numbers that are special to him: his late father’s lottery numbers.
The Whistler resident purchased the ticket from Circle K convenience store on Lorimer Road.
Ramos plans to save his prize for travel with his family once it’s safe to do so. A trip to Asia and a live Michael Bublé concert are at the top of his bucket list.
