Wind warning issued for Howe Sound

staff report
February 9, 2021 4:47pm

Environment Canada has issued a wind warning for Howe Sound.

Strong outflow winds are expected to begin late Wednesday night.

Arctic air will drive through coastal valleys and inlets, leading to strong winds.

Winds of 70 km/h gusting to 90 km/h are forecast for southern portions of Howe Sound, including Bowen Island.

Winds are expected to begin before the early morning hours on Thursday.

Winds will ease somewhat Thursday afternoon but will likely increase again on Thursday night.

Meanwhile, a cold weather alert remains in place.

To report severe weather, send an email to BCstorm@canada.ca or tweet reports using #BCStorm.
