A local veterinarian and his staff picked up 14.1 kg of garbage as part of a community clean-up effort.
Dr. Jasdeep Grewal of Alpenlofts Veterinary Hospital says the clean-up was in response to concerns about dog poop and pets ingesting THC-infested feces.
“Besides bags of bagged poop we picked up dog poop, beer bottles, pairs of boots, plastic bags, shots of Captain Morgan to name a few,” he says.
The hospital team cleaned the Sea to Sky trail area in the Garibaldi Estate this past Saturday, and have two more dates planned.
The team will be covering the Eagle Run and Mamquam River area on Wednesday, April 21, and the Valleycliffe Dike on Saturday May 8.
“We seek suggestions for more spots to clean up and seek your support to spread the word and invite volunteers to scale up the effort,” Grewal says.
“We were so thrilled about cleaning up the community this past week, and we’re excited for our next clean-up dates.”
He says the meeting point and route for the next cleanup would be posted on Facebook closer to the dates, and Alpenlofts would supply gloves, garbage bags, poop bags, and garbage pickers.
“Let’s clean up the community together,” Grewal says.
