Gibsons man arrested for dangerous driving on highway

Staff report
April 13, 2021 10:57am

Sunshine Coast RCMP have arrested a Gibsons man for dangerous driving on the Sunshine Coast Highway.

On Monday April 12, at approximately 6:30 pm, Sunshine Coast RCMP received several call about a black Honda Civic being driven aggressively and dangerously in the Sechelt, Gibsons and the Port Mellon area.

Callers reported that the driver was possibly impaired as he drove at high speeds and passed cars crossing double solid yellow lines.

The vehicle was eventually stopped on Sunshine Coast highway near North Road and the lone driver, a 41-year-old Gibsons man was arrested.

He had also been prohibited from driving since 2019.

Police are looking for other witnesses and/or possible dash cam footage of this vehicle and the driving behaviour.

If you have any information please contact Sunshine Coast RCMP, file number 2021-2335.
