Squamish sets heat record

April 14, 2021, was a record setting hot day in Squamish.

According to a weather summaries released by Environment Canada, Squamish set a new record for maximum temperature at 26 C.

Yesterday’s hot weather shattered the old record of 20.6 C set in 1964, and records have been kept since 1960.

The typical maximum temperatures for this time of the year are 14 C.

According to the weather summaries, Squamish was also the hottest town in the province, with the next hot spot being Cloverdale East, which recorded 23 C, followed by Malahat area with 19 C.

The unusually hot weather continues with temperatures expected to remain in the mid-20s until next Tuesday, when a mix of sun and cloud breaks this pattern.
