The District of Squamish will be installing bike lanes on Pemberton Avenue in May and some delays can be expected.
District crews are expected to work on the project from May 3 to May 21. Please expect minor road and sidewalk detours and delays.
District crews will install new unidirectional bike lanes along Pemberton Avenue from Loggers Lane to Third Avenue.
Other improvements will include changes to the sidewalk, road repaving, cyclist push buttons at Cleveland Avenue and traffic signal optimization of Cleveland and Pemberton traffic signal.
The bike path will provide a safe and efficient linkage between the Corridor Trail (highway underpass), downtown, and the bike route on Third Avenue, according to a DOS staff report.
The bike path will be placed adjacent to the existing sidewalk, and will be separated from traffic with a concrete curb and will include a flashing crosswalk at Loggers Lane.
“Building the pathway on the north side of Pemberton Avenue will provide the most efficient connection to the future multi-use path that will be on the east side of the Laurelwood Road Bridge (Mamquam Blind Chanel), and the Hunter Place Connector Trail,” the report notes.
