Upcoming work on Highway 99; watch out for trucks and paving equipment

staff report
May 13, 2021 3:40pm

Starting May 31, Alpine Paving will begin construction work on Highway 99 in Whistler in conjunction with the Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure.

This work will start at Emerald Drive and will continue to the River of Golden Dreams Bridge for approximately six kilometres.

Hours of work are from 7 am to 6 pm, Monday to Saturday.

There will be single lane alternating traffic for most of the project with minimal delays and stoppages.

Please watch for trucks and paving equipment travelling through the work zone. It is expected this project will be complete on or before September 4.

Alpine Paving is requesting people to shut off the vehicle engine while they are waiting or at a controlled stoppage.

Idle reduction plans will be in effect and traffic will be monitored at all times.

Construction speed limits will also be in effect and will be posted in the construction zone area in both directions.
