Witnesses sought after bear carcass dumped off Bailey Street

staff report
May 22, 2021 4:52pm

Conservation Officer Service is seeking witnesses after a bear carcass was dumped off Bailey street on the gravel section of the road today.

It is legal bear hunting season, but there are indications the bear was harvested somewhere else, said Simon Gravel of the BC Conservation Officer Service.

Gravel said the edible parts were removed.

“It is a poor ethical choice  to dispose of a carcass in such proximity of trails and residential area,” he said.

He said there was no any evidence that could lead to the person responsible for this, but is asking the public to contact RAPP line if anyone witnessed the dumping.

“If anyone witnessed the dumping, they can provide the information to the RAPP line,” he said.

The bear carcass has been removed by COS. People can call the RAPP line at 1-877-952-7277 (RAPP) or #7277 on TELUS.
