Missing woman’s body found in Downtown Nanaimo

The Nanaimo RCMP is investigating the discovery of an adult female body in downtown Nanaimo.

The body was discovered by police on Thursday June 3, 2021 in the vicinity of Albert St and Victoria Crescent.

The deceased was found in a small wooded ravine, and the BC Coroners Service has been advised.

Based on preliminary observations, investigators believe the deceased is 27-year-old Amy Watts, who was reported missing by her family to the Nanaimo RCMP on Thursday May 27, 2021.

The family of the deceased have been notified.

A forensic autopsy will be scheduled in the near future and the investigation is continuing.
