A collision between two cars on Highway 99 claimed a local youth’s life and injured four others.
The accident happened on June 28, at about 10:45 pm on Highway 99 north of Alice Lake.
Squamish RCMP said the initial police investigation indicated the collision had taken place between a car with three Squamish youths and a van with one occupant.
The 17-year-old driver of the car died at the scene, and Emergency Health Services transported the others to local hospital. Their injuries are unknown at this time.
Squamish RCMP are working with the Integrated Collision and Reconstruction Service to assess the accident scene.
Squamish RCMP Victim Services is providing support to anyone in need, and SD 48 has resources available for all Squamish students.

“We have dedicated all the resources we have available to best support those involved so we can determine what happened.”
