A severe thunderstorm watch is in effect for Fraser Canyon, including Lillooet.
Severe thunderstorms are capable of producing strong wind gusts, hail and brief but heavy downpours.
Thunderstorms are expected to be short-lived but have the potential to produce pea to nickel size hail and 5 to 15 mm of rain.
Drybelt areas may be more susceptible to heavy downpours.
Those regions include the Okanagan Valley including Vernon, Kelowna and Penticton, South Thompson – including Kamloops and Ashcroft, Boundary – including Grand Forks.
Lightning kills and injures Canadians every year. Remember, when thunder roars, go indoors!
Severe thunderstorm watches are issued when atmospheric conditions are favourable for the development of thunderstorms that could produce one or more of the following: large hail, damaging winds, torrential rainfall.
