Drunk driver’s car impounded in Downtown Squamish

Staff report
August 5, 2021 10:30am

On August 2, Squamish RCMP conducted an impaired driving road-check in the downtown area.

During the check, officers stopped a driver who showed signs of impairment and also failed to agree to a test.

Under the Motor Vehicle Act, police issued the driver a 24-hour driving prohibition, a 90 day immediate roadside prohibition, and impounded the owner’s car for 30 days.

On August 2, Squamish RCMP also investigated a report of catalytic converter theft from a 2010 black Ford Escape.

The car was parked at the Rubble Creek trailhead parking lot, and the theft happened sometime in the afternoon.

Police ask anyone parked in the area during this time to check their cars and contact the detachment to report the theft of a converter.
