Sports car driver ticketed for hit-and-run on Highway 99

On September 4, 2021, Squamish RCMP investigated a report of hit and run after the driver from a red sports car side swiped another car on Highway 99 near Lions Bay.

Police located the driver of the sports car, completed their investigation, and issued the driver a violation ticket under the Motor Vehicle Act for failing to remain at scene of an accident.

Neither driver from the hit and run sustained any injuries in this incident.

Theft and fraud

On September 2, at about 2:45 am, Squamish RCMP investigated a report of theft of wallet and other contents from a parked car.

After stealing the wallet, thieves made a fraudulent transaction at a local gas station.

A rash of theft was also reported from vehicles in the 40200 block Government Road., and 385000 block Sky Pilot Drive.

Police are reminding residents to secure vehicles and property, and to report through contacting the local detachment or through online crime reporting at https://ocre-sielc.rcmp-grc.gc.ca/squamish
