BC Highway patrol is advising those who travel from North Vancouver to Whistler to expect increased enforcement this upcoming weekend, September 10 to 12.
Police are aware of a planned exotic car rally which will be traveling from Richmond to Whistler and back over the weekend.
Additional police resources will be patrolling the Highway 99 corridor from the Taylor Way on-ramp to Whistler, ensuring that speed limits are strictly observed.
Motorists can expect to see a large presence of both marked and unmarked police vehicles during their travels.
Aggressive driving, speeding/excessive speeding, distracted driving and impaired driving are the leading causes of serious injury and fatal collisions in British Columbia, and this driving behaviour will not be tolerated, says Sergeant Patrick Davies, spokesperson for Fraser Coast IRSU.
Drivers failing to abide by the rules of the road put themselves and innocent motorists at risk and may find themselves the subject of tickets, vehicle impoundment and, where evidence supports it, criminal charges.
