Upcoming sewer construction work under Highway 99 in Garibaldi Estates area will start on September 20.

This work is expected to create a lot of noise and vibration and may affect drivers and residents in the area.

This work will take place over an estimated two weeks between 7 am and 8 pm, Monday through Friday.

However, dewatering pumps will be in operation on a 24/7 basis.

The next phase of the Mamquam Road upgrades also begins today and residents can expect traffic delays.

Beginning today, there will be no left turns onto Mamquam Road for southbound traffic from Highway 99.

Drivers will have to use a detour via Garibaldi Way, although left-hand turns to exit Mamquam Road onto Highway 99 will still be allowed.

As construction progresses, district says it will take all measures to maximize parking availability, though it is expected to be impacted in the area.

The district is implementing capital project upgrades along Mamquam Road, which include a new sewer line, new sidewalk and bike paths, and road repaving.

The project that has closed Mamquam Road to traffic since June is expected to finish in late fall.
