Truck traffic to increase as construction begins at Oceanfront Squamish

Staff report
September 28, 2021 1:58pm

Construction at Sp’akw’us Feather Park at Oceanfront Squamish has started.

JJM Construction Ltd. has mobilized equipment on the Oceanfront site since Monday, September 13.

Machinery and truck traffic will increase as construction is anticipated to last approximately two years.

Construction is scheduled in two phases: Phase A concentrates in water and upland construction, while Phase B will focus on landscaping and final park treatments.

Currently underway, the first portion of Phase A construction will include subtidal rock placement, which is expected take up to four months.

The fluctuating tide schedules will dictate when this work will take place, and work may take place outside of normal construction hours.

The contractor has secured all necessary permitting.

Pedestrians may notice trail and road closures from time to time. Resident are asked to make sure to follow signs and pay close attention to all road crossings.
