West Vancouver Police officers seized a fake gun from an impaired Lions Bay teen after an incident involving assault in the Sandy Cove area of West Vancouver.
The incident happened on Halloween night when officers responded to a call about an alleged assault on three people near Marine Drive and Morgan Crescent.
The victims told the police they were attacked by five people, who were driving a Honda CX5. The three victims suffered injuries to the face in this attack.
However, this wasn’t a random attack, and the victims and suspects were known to each other.
Police found the Honda on Highway 1 travelling at 147 kilometres per hour. Officers stopped the car and found out the driver was impaired.
The teen’s licence was suspended for 90 days and the car was impounded for 30 days.
Cst. Kevin Goodmurphy of West Vancouver police said the fake pistol was “very, very” realistic looking. Although not illegal, Goodmurphy advises against keeping one as it can have dangerous consequences.
