Glass and foam collection suspended in Britannia Beach, Furry Creek

Staff report
November 20, 2021 8:41am

Glass and foam packaging will not be accepted as part of the curbside recycling program in Britannia Beach and Furrey Creek.

Recycle BC is temporarily suspending glass packaging (bottles and jars) and foam packaging (white and coloured) collection as of November 22, 2021.

Recycle BC cannot move these materials because of road closures caused by flooding events in BC.

However, not all areas are affected in the same way, and glass depots in Britannia Beach will accept glass packaging.

Foam packaging is currently suspended at the Squamish Recycling Depot and Squamish Landfill.

At the Pemberton Transfer Station, glass packaging will be collected but not foam.

The Pemberton Recycling Centre (bottle depot) will continue to accept foam and glass permitting storage capacity.
