Staff report
December 14, 2021 8:10am

A 28-year-old Mississauga man has been arrested and charged following a bomb threat on a plane bound for Vancouver.

On December 13, at approximately 2 pm eastern time, Waterloo police responded to a report of a bomb on a Vancouver-bound Flair Airlines plane at the Waterloo Regional Airport.

A passenger reported to staff that another passenger had threatened that he had a bomb on the plane.

The plane was evacuated, and police determined that there were no explosives on the plane. Operations at the airport were interrupted for several hours as police and airport staff cleared the plane.

The man has been charged with Uttering Threats to Cause Death and Mischief, and Interfering with Operation of Property.

The accused is being held in police custody for a bail hearing, and police continues to investigate.
