Nine people were injured in an accident involving four cars on the Sea to Sky Highway with one person sustaining extensive injuries in the crash.
The accident took place on December 9 near Daisy Lake area. It happened when a northbound car crossed the centerline and collided with a southbound car. Two other cars were involved in the collision.
Two people were trapped inside one car and had to be extracted by first responders.
One person suffered extensive injuries and was taken to the hospital by air ambulance for medical attention. Remaining people in the accident received medical care at local hospitals or medical clinics.
There were two dogs in one of the cars but they were not injured, says Squamish RCMP. Three of the four cars were extensively damaged, but police say impairment is not part of the investigation.
“Generally, we don’t receive many enquiries about car accidents,” says Corporal Angela Kermer of the Squamish RCMP. “But out of concern, a number of community members were wondering how people are doing, and we’d like to respect the kind hearts people have through our update.”
