Squamish RCMP have arrested a man who stole a car from a local gas station.
On December 25, 2021, Squamish RCMP responded to a report of car theft from a local gas station at Highway 99 and Cleveland Ave.
Police said the thief stole the car while the owner was inside the store. The car’s global positioning tracker notified the owner of the car’s location, and Squamish RCMP worked with West Vancouver Police Department to locate and arrest the thief, who was released from custody with a future court date.
On December 23, 2021, Squamish RCMP investigated a report of a $3,500 fraud after a fraudster posed as the unsuspecting victim’s boss and had the victim buy gift cards.
The fraudster convinced the victim the cards were for employee gifts and had the victim send him the gift card codes. The victim has since contacted their bank and employer’s fraud departments to help resolve the matter.
