District plans ‘Squamish Story’ exhibit at adventure centre

February 16, 2022 8:50am

The District of Squamish is requesting proposals for the development and installation of a “Squamish Story” exhibit at the Squamish Adventure Centre.

This installation will be a new feature of the adventure centre following its 2022 renovation and is funded through the Province’s Tourism Dependent Communities Fund.

The exhibit will tell the story of Squamish and surrounding area in approximately 1,000 square feet of space through the lenses of place and people. Visitors to the building will be able to peruse the exhibit freely.

While the main exhibit space is approximately 1,000 square feet, the District is looking for an integrated design and floor plan that includes several additional areas of the building including the theatre, visitor centre, retail space, public corridors and washroom facilities.

The District is looking for a full-service design and exhibit development firm with expertise in project management, interpretive content development, museum exhibit design, production, and installation.

The exhibit could include artifacts, interpretive panels and multimedia. Anticipated themes include Squamish nation and territory, community, forest, mountains and sea, river valley and Howe Sound and “passion for place”.
