Public hearing set for new Downtown development

Staff report
February 18, 2022 6:22am

The Council will hold a public hearing in March 1 for rezoning of properties 1100, 1120, 1140 Hunter Place.

The properties have been proposed to be rezoned from a split zone of Light Industrial (I-1) and Downtown Commerical (C-4) to the new Comprehensive Development Zone No. 99.

The site is located behind the Nesters grocery store and includes five distinct buildings connected by a common courtyard. The mixed-use development will provide 324 residential units along with retail and office space. District received an application to rezone the subject properties in July 2018.

“If the employment space is realized and fully tenanted, it would create approximately 208 jobs in the development compared to a residential population of 410,” notes a staff report to the Council.

People who believe that their interest in property is affected by the proposed zoning bylaw amendment will have an opportunity to be heard and to present written submissions at the Public Hearing on Tuesday, March 1, 2022 being held at 6 p.m.

There are four ways to participate: In writing; Electronic participation; By telephone; In person (masks are required for all persons attending Council meetings and may be removed while presenting to Council). To know more, visit this page.
