Impaired driver’s license suspended by Squamish RCMP

Staff report
February 22, 2022 3:42pm

On February 16, 2022 Squamish RCMP responded to a call about a vehicle that had been hit by another vehicle.

A short time later, an off duty officer noticed a speeding vehicle that matched the description of the earlier vehicle.

Officers conducted a traffic stop and suspected the driver of the vehicle was impaired. The driver failed a roadside test and was arrested for Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle and Possession of a Controlled Substance when a crack pipe was located.

The driver had his licence suspended and the vehicle was towed. On February 17, Squamish RCMP also conducted an impaired driving check in the Squamish Valley. Police conducted several breath tests, but there were no impaired drivers.
