Rogers Hometown Hockey will be making its way to the City of North Vancouver as the last stop for the 2022 season of the popular national event.
From April 23 to 25, the community is invited to join in a family-friendly hockey celebration taking place in the Shipyards District and Lower Lonsdale neighbourhood.
The free event features a weekend of live entertainment, NHL alumni appearances and hockey-themed activities along East 1st Street between Lonsdale and St Georges Avenue.
The highlight of the festival will be an outdoor viewing party of a live national NHL broadcast hosted by Sportsnet’s hosts Ron MacLean and Tara Slone from the Foot of Lonsdale on Carrie Cates Road.
“After two years of postponed plans, I think everyone will agree it’s exciting to see the return of community events,” said CNV Mayor Linda Buchanan. “Sports and recreation have long been a part of our community identity. The City is pleased to welcome Rogers Hometown Hockey to the Shipyards as it will create a lively, vibrant, and fun space for people of all ages, showcase our community to the nation, and generate new economic opportunities for our local businesses.”
Rogers Hometown Hockey’s Canadian celebration of hockey and community visits cities across the country every year, with the City of North Vancouver marking the final stop on their 2022 tour.
The programming will feature profiles of the City, hockey enthusiasts, and local sports groups. The event was scheduled to come to the City of North Vancouver in 2020, but was cancelled due to the pandemic.
