The Squamish Street Market festival returns to downtown Squamish on Sunday, July 31, 2022 from 11 AM to 5 PM, thanks to a BC COVID-Recovery Grant.
Local company BP Communications will be producing the event while Norman Rudy’s is sponsoring the family-friendly beer garden and main entertainment stage. The Taste of Squamish will be sponsoring the Food Truck Alley.
“We are very excited to be bringing this Sunday summer event back to downtown Squamish!” says Bianca Peters, the event organizer.
The original series of events began in the summer of 2018 with the goal of drawing people downtown on a Sunday. The Squamish Street Market features vendors, food trucks, a beer garden, car show, live art and prizes from local businesses and not for profits.
“We look forward to seeing the community coming together again after a two-year absence and are grateful to the Province and our sponsors for their support to make it happen for the businesses, entertainers, locals and visitors to Squamish,” says Peters.
Kalkalath (Deanna Lewis) of the Squamish Nation will be opening the event with a blessing, drumming and songs followed by performances by the Squamish Dance Centre dancers. Squamish local favourites, Mario and Anne Iacovone, will be belting out the hits with their band ‘The Overcomers’. The day will end on a high note with acclaimed Whistler band ‘Red Chair’. The event is free to attend.
Registration is now open for vendors, food trucks, car show and sponsors. For more information or to get involved, please visit www.squamishstreetmarket.com
