Motorcyclist seriously injured in collision on Sea to Sky Highway

Staff report
April 26, 2022 3:45pm

Police are investigating a serious collision involving a motorcyclist that caused highway 99 northbound to be shut down for five hours yesterday evening.

On April 25, at approximately 5:25 pm, officers arrived on scene on the highway, north of Horseshoe Bay, after reports of a collision involving a motorcycle.

When officers arrived, they saw a man who was lying on the ground, and had sustained what appeared to be life-altering injuries. Police didn’t provide any details on the collision. Bystanders and police rendered medical assistance to the male until West Vancouver Fire and Rescue and BC Ambulance arrived on scene. He was taken to the hospital by BC ambulance.

Due to the serious nature of the incident members of the Integrated Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Service (ICARS) attended and took control of the scene.

“This is a tragic incident,” says Cst. Nicole Braithwaite. “We are looking for any witnesses who may have information in regards to this incident to please contact police.”

The investigation is ongoing. If anyone has information, they are asked to call the West Vancouver Police at 604-925-7300 quoting police file 22-4473.
