Staff report
May 20, 2022 6:42am

The Independent Investigations Office of British Columbia was called to Pemberton after one man was injured during arrest.  On May 17, at 2:30 am, Whistler RCMP were advised by Toyota Connected that they had a located a stolen Toyota in the area of Park Street.

Pemberton and Whistler officers came and observed a vehicle stolen from the Fraser Valley. One man and a woman were taken into custody. Police believe they have committed a great deal of crime in a short period of time in numerous communities.

During the course of the arrest the male received injuries and the IIO was contacted. The police watchdog will be investigating the incident and the actions of the police officers.

The Whistler/Pemberton RCMP is conducting several investigations for the initial allegations of possession of stolen property, thefts and frauds.
