Police investigating theft from vehicles on Mamquam Road

Staff report
May 25, 2022 11:33am

Squamish RCMP is investigating after reports of theft from vehicles parked on Mamquam Road.

On May 19, Squamish RCMP received a report of tools stolen from a vehicle on the 2000 block of Mamquam Road.  A man and a woman were observed ‘scoping out the area” early morning around 1:30 am. When confronted by local residents, they said they lived in the area but that was not the case, police say.

Squamish RCMP did not say if they were arrested or further questioned for this particular theft.

In a similar incident, a vehicle was broken into and some personal items were stolen, including a Black Maui Jim sunglasses, brown Revo sunglasses, red Xpex sunglasses, keys on a blue lanyard and a single key on a red rope lanyard, a Swiss army multi-tool with name engraved on it, a BaoFeng VHF radio, and a yellow multi-tip screwdriver.

Excessive Speed

On May 23, Squamish RCMP received a report of a vehicle travelling southbound on Highway 99 where the driver seemed to be impaired.  An officer observed that the vehicle went from being very slow to travelling 115 km/ hr in a 70 km/hr zone.

The driver was found without a valid licence though the driver was not impaired. The driver was issued tickets and the vehicle towed. Anyone with any information regarding the above files are asked to contact the Squamish RCMP at 604-892-6100, or contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS, or go to the website www.solvecrime.ca
