Squamish Search and Rescue worked with police and the gondola staff to rescue people in three separate incidents on Tuesday.
On Tuesday, around 1 am, the Squamish SAR conducted a joint operation with the fire service and Squamish RCMP to assist with a rope rescue operation at a trail between Sea to Sky Gondola and Shannon Falls.
SAR manager BJ Chute said they received a call about a man who had fallen off from a rock face on the connector trail between Shannon Falls and the gondola. He was with a friend when the incident happened and the duo called 911 for help.
He was helped down with a rope rescue and was evacuated to a waiting ambulance and SAR and taken to hospital. SAR also responded to a request for help after a man had a suspected leg fracture after falling off on the Sea to Sky Summit trail.
“He was rescued using helicopter long line and brought down to a safe area and taken to the hospital where he is being treated for injuries to his lower leg,” he said.
SAR was also assisted by the Sea to Sky Gondola staff in this rescue, who also helped guide another group on the trail to safety.
