A pass will be required to access some trails at Garibaldi Provincial Park, as well the Joffre Lakes and Golden Ears Provincial parks. At the Garibaldi Provincial Park, a free pass will be required for Cheakamus, Diamond Head (Elfin Lakes) and Rubble Creek (Garibaldi Lake).
They will be required at these three parks as of June 17.
Starting June 15, the free passes will be available at https://bcparks.ca/reserve/day-use. Passes can be booked starting at 7 am, two days before a planned visit.
Internet connectivity at the park may be limited or unavailable, so please print or screenshot your day-use pass on your mobile device before your visit. The day-use pass program is run in collaboration with the Discover Parks Ambassadors who will also be checking day use passes in these three parks.
“Although these provincial parks are large in land size, most of the recreation occurs on developed trails and trailheads that get highly congested. An unmanaged increase in visitors can result in trail damage and vegetation trampling, wildlife displacement and impacts to Indigenous cultural values. Parking is also challenging in these parks,” says BC Parks.
