Expect snow at higher elevations at Garibaldi Provincial Park, cautions BC Parks.
Campers should be prepared to winter camp at Elfin Lakes, Rampart Ponds, Garibaldi Lake, Singing Pass and Wedgemount as tent pads are still under snow. Travel with microspikes or snowshoes. BC Parks also recommends animal-proof storage containers as food hangs may be inaccessible. BC Parks is also cautioning people to be aware of thieves. Visitors are being advised to lock up securely. Do not leave valuables in vehicle, and report any theft or damage to police.
Do not follow Google Maps directions to Elfin Lakes as the route is not in place. The winter pole route to Elfin Lakes in the Diamond Head area has been removed for the summer season, but significant snow levels and avalanche hazards still exist.
Parties travelling beyond Red Heather should have advanced navigation and route-finding skills as well as avalanche safety training and equipment.
