Crews battle wildfire near Lytton

Staff report
July 14, 2022 3:43pm

The BC Wildfire Service is responding to a wildfire about two kilometres from Lytton.

In a tweet, the service said it is responding to the Nohomin Creek wildfire, located approximately 1.7 km northwest of Lytton, on the west side of the Fraser River.

The fire is estimated at two hectares in size, and the fire behaviour is being influenced by gusty winds in the area. The cause of the fire is unknown and it was reported around 5:44 am.

Multiple BC Wildfire Service crews are responding and are being supported by both helicopters and air tankers.

This is a dynamic situation and updates will be provided as they become available,” the service said.

Last year’s fire that swept through Lytton in June claimed the life of three people and left many people displaced.
