Squamish RCMP and fire services are investigating an early morning fire in Dentville.
In the early morning hours of August 25, Squamish Fire Rescue attended a structure fire at a multi-family building, Tantalus Manor, located at 1098 Wilson Crescent.
The call to 911 came in at 1:38 a.m. Five pieces of fire apparatus and approximately 30 fire fighters attended the scene. The fire was contained to contents within one dwelling unit – the structure of the building itself was not on fire.
Quick acting neighbours were able to break a window and use a fire extinguisher to help until fire fighters arrived, said Christina Moore, the District communications manager. When crews arrived on scene they attacked the fire with water from the exterior while another crew entered the unit.
Smoke had spread to two additional dwelling units in the block. Squamish Emergency Social Services attended and supported residents in those units who were temporarily displaced.
“The fire is being further investigated this morning in conjunction with the RCMP, and more information will be released once available,” Moore said.
It’s not yet clear if anyone was injured in the fire.
