Squamish born and raised businessman, Rajan Hans has formed a new political party called “Squamish First” and is seeking a seat on council after encouragement of many members of the community.
“Squamish First will be a coalition of like-minded independents that will come together to achieve key goals for the community. It will be a coalition that will take action on Day One on priorities that Squamish residents have been asking for over the last 20 years. It will be a coalition that will deliver real results,” says Rajan Hans.
“I have seen Squamish grow exponentially over the years but investment in infrastructure has not matched the growth. Stronger policy is needed to prioritize investments in community amenities for young families and seniors. There has been lots of development with little to show for it, we need to ensure developers are paying their fair share,” says Hans.
Rajan Hans is the founder of Diamond Head security, a security services firm that employs locals and serves the sea to sky corridor.
“I believe experiences provide a solid foundation to generate discussion, before making ethical, educated, and meaningful decisions, on behalf of the community,” he says. More on Squamish First candidates and platform will be released in the upcoming weeks.

Good for you Rajan

Thanks for stepping forward Rajan … but from my side of the fence when it is a group representation like we had a few years ago … all drinking the same coffee in the group like clones, (or clowns) and no individual presentation … that is not democracy, it sort of like Trump management. The town has to have representation from all degrees of the compass, not a specific group … that is the reason Religion is a bust to democracy.

Donald,
What are you trying to imply with your religious comment? Would you be saying this if the color of his skin was white?
Secondly, i will fully support a coalition of independents that will work together. Look at our current council and previous council, they were both full of independents, and they ran our town into a dumpster. What have they accomplished? Nothing.
Its time for change.

“we need to ensure developers are paying their fair share”
The article conveniently forgot to mention that is a developer (Allwest Development). While acting as a developer, his projects have been the source of frequent noise complaints for working outside the allowable hours. His blatant disregard for the community he was building in, gives me very little hope that he will do anything positive for Squamish as a councillor.

Thanks for being negative “Dan”. You clearly are unhappy with your life as you chose to be oblivious to people trying to make the town better. He may be right or wrong depending on how you interpret his views, but atleast he’s trying to take a stand for something. Unlike you who hides behind a screen writing meaningless comments. Throw your hat in the ring if you don’t like the way things are done!
On a side note, thanks for stepping up Rajan! I’m interested to see how things pan out, I don’t usually agree with the party/coalition idea. I’m open to it though!
