Man on stolen scooter arrested from Sea to Sky Highway

Staff report
October 18, 2022 5:21pm

A Vancouver man on a stolen scooter was arrested from Sea to Sky Highway. On October 15, police received a report of a scooter driver on Highway 99 near Porteau Cove. He was crossing over yellow lines, and the scooter had no tail lights.

Officers located the driver and determined that the scooter was stolen out of Vancouver. Police also located some weapons and stolen bank cards from the man. The man is of no fixed address, and he was released from custody with a future court date.

On October 13, a member of the BC Highway Patrol noticed a motorcycle with a pillion rider, which is not permitted. Initially the man was arrested as he was not the owner of the motorcycle, but police later determined it was not stolen but was loaned by a relative who lived in Langley.

The driver was issued a roadside prohibition.
