Police investigates after diners robbed at gun-point at Vancouver café

Staff report
November 21, 2022 11:01am

Vancouver Police are investigating a take-over style robbery that left more than a dozen staff and customers traumatized at an East Vancouver café Sunday morning.

Two men with guns entered the restaurant, near Commercial Drive and Kitchener Street, at the height of Sunday brunch. They pointed the weapons at staff and patrons, ordering the victims to hand over cellular phones and other valuables, then fled in a vehicle.

One victim sustained minor injuries. Both suspects wore hats, hoodies, and gloves to hide their identities. Anyone with information is asked to contact Vancouver Police Department’s Major Crime Section at 604-717-2541.

A Vancouver Police arrest has also led to criminal charges after a woman was robbed while trying to withdraw money from an East Vancouver ATM Saturday night. The 34-year-old victim was attempting to use a bank machine near Broadway and Commercial around 10 pm on Saturday when she was approached by a stranger who asked for a cigarette.

The victim refused, and the man allegedly shoved her against a wall and demanded money. The woman fled and called 9-1-1, and VPD officers located the suspect sleeping inside the ATM vestibule.

He was arrested for robbery and taken to jail. Gregory West, 30, has been charged with robbery.

Well, if the law obeying citizens of Canada were allowed to pass a rigorous check, obtain a license, legally carry and use their guns for self defense, those crooks would think twice before they brandish their ILLEGAL weapons, injuring, traumatizing and robbing innocent people…
But NO, our beloved Government and especially the Police would tell you they are the only one capable, the rest of us are criminals to even think of what I wrote here, and only they should be doing it. In reality and the best case scenario, they are always few minutes away from when you need them…
