Drunk drivers on Sea to Sky Highway issued roadside prohibitions

Staff report
December 8, 2022 11:38am

Squamish RCMP issued driving prohibitions to three impaired drivers on the Sea to Sky Highway.

Last week, Sea to Sky RCMP and BC Highway Patrol did several road checks for driver sobriety. In total, officers checked about 180 cars, and administered eight breath tests to drivers the officers suspected were drunk.

Three of the drivers were issued driving prohibitions, and one person is under investigation for driving after using a drug.

Youth chased after mischief

On December 2, at about 5:30 pm, police received a report of two youths spray painting the Highway 99 and Pemberton overpass on the Mamquam Blind Channel.

The person chased away the youth and called the police, who followed up but couldn’t identify the suspects.
