Construction on a new child centre is expected to begin early next year in Valleycliffe with the District aiming for a fall 2023 opening.
The 250 square metre, stand-alone building will be located in the south-east corner of the Valleycliffe Elementary School site. It will provide 12 infant/toddler spaces plus 24 group care spaces (30-months to school age), and 24 after school care spaces.
The new child care centre is a partner project with SD48 who is providing a long-term land lease for the facility, and Sea to Sky Community Services Society, who will operate the facility long-term.
The facility will also have a dedicated outdoor play space to meet provincial licensing requirements for the two age-groups. The project team for the project has been assembled and a detailed design is now underway. In March this year, the District received $2,000,100 from the ChildcareBC New Spaces Fund for the multi-age childcare centre at Valleycliffe Elementary School.
