Environment Canada has issued a rainfall warning for Squamish
A long episode of heavy rain is in store, with total rainfall of 110 mm in Squamish. Rain will intensify overnight with the first storm, which will pass through by mid-day on Monday, providing a brief reprieve from the heavy rain.
The second storm will arrive Monday evening and rain will intensify overnight. Heavy rain will continue through Tuesday and Tuesday night.
Along with Squamish, the North Shore, Port Moody, Coquitlam, Port Coquitlam, Anmore, Pitt Meadows, and Maple Ridge are also expected to see heavy rain. Localised flooding due to ice-clogged drains, water pooling on roads, and high river levels can be expected, cautions Environment Canada.
“Avoid driving through water on roads. Even shallow, fast-moving water across a road can sweep a vehicle or a person away. Don’t approach washouts near rivers, creeks and culverts. Keep children and pets away from creeks and river banks.”
