West Vancouver Police and the Integrated Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Service (ICARS) are investigating a collision involving a seven-year-old pedestrian.
On January 11, at 6:54 pm, West Vancouver Police, West Vancouver Fire & Rescue and BC Emergency Health Services attended the 3300 block of Marine Drive, West Vancouver, for a report of a pedestrian involved motor vehicle incident.
The pedestrian, a 7-year-old child, was crossing the street with her family when she was struck by a vehicle travelling westbound on Marine Drive. The child was rushed to the hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
The driver of the vehicle remained on scene and is cooperating with police. Due to the seriousness of the incident, ICARS attended the scene and are assisting with the investigation. West Vancouver Police Victim Services will be providing support to the family. Anyone who may have witnessed the incident and requires support may call 604-925-7468.
“This is a very serious incident that resulted in significant injuries,” says Cst. Nicole Braithwaite “We are thinking about the child and her family, and we wish her a speedy recovery.”
