Pedestrian killed in West Van after being struck by commercial truck

March 1, 2023 5:44pm

Police is investigating a collision that claimed a senior’s life in the Cedardale area of West Vancouver.  On February 28 at 9:20 a.m. the West Vancouver Police responded to the 800 block of 3rd Street after reports of a pedestrian being struck by a truck.

Police say a 83-year-old man died on the scene after being struck by a commercial flatbed truck. The area of 3rd Street was closed for several hours while the Integrated Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Service (ICARS) took control of the scene.

The driver of the vehicle remained at scene and is cooperating with police.

“This is a tragic incident. All of us at the West Vancouver Police offer our sincere condolences to the family of the deceased man. Losing someone, especially from within our community is devastating,” says Cst. Braithwaite. “If you or anyone you know may have witnessed this and need support, please reach out to our West Vancouver Police Victim Services Unit at 604-925-7468.”
