A dump truck driver escaped with minor injuries in a collision that closed the Sea to Sky Highway briefly.
On May 24, just after 11 am, police received a report of an accident involving a dump truck in the northbound lanes at Furry Creek. The truck had gone off road into a ditch and landed on its side. Police said people stopped to help the driver while waiting for first responders to arrive at the scene.
Squamish Fire Rescue, BC Ambulance, Miller Capilano, and a local tow company also responded. The response required the closure of Highway 99 northbound for about 30 minutes. BC Ambulance took the driver to hospital with unknown injuries. She has since been released.
Investigators continue following up with this matter, says Corporal Angela Kermer, Sea to Sky RCMP. “Further investigation will help determine what happened. We’re thankful to passers by who assisted and are relieved the driver’s injuries were not substantial.”
